Long-Lasting Treatment For Damaged Or Missing Teeth

Whether you’ve got a painful tooth that needs to be fixed or you’ve lost one or more of your natural teeth, Dr. Julie Snyder and the dentists at Mountaineer Dental and Sleep Center are here to help. With dental crowns and bridges in Boone, NC, you can repair your damaged teeth, replace your missing teeth, and smile proudly once again.

What Are Dental Crowns?

Basically, a dental crown is a hollow false tooth. Crowns are designed to cover up a tooth all the way down to the gum line. They're very strong, durable, and provide excellent protection. Because of this, crowns are typically used to repair damaged, decayed, or otherwise compromised teeth.

For example, Dr. Snyder may recommend a dental crown if you have a severely decayed tooth, to cover up your tooth after a root canal, or to repair a deep crack or chip in your tooth. Once the crown is in place, it will protect the underlying tooth and protect it from damage for years and even decades to come.

Crowns can be made from lots of different materials, but we prefer to use porcelain crowns at Mountaineer Dental and Sleep Center. Porcelain is very strong, durable, and similar to natural enamel, making it a fantastic choice for dental crowns.

The benefits of dental crowns

  • Get out of pain – Crowns are a great way to repair damaged, painful teeth. Once you get treatment from Dr. Snyder and our team of dentists, you’ll be able to get out of pain and get back to your normal routine.
  • Same-day care with CEREC – At Mountaineer Dental and Sleep Center, we use CEREC to provide same-day crowns. If you qualify, you can get a new crown in just a single two-hour visit with Dr. Julia Snyder.
  • Enjoy long-lasting results – Crowns typically last between 10-15 years with proper care, and you may be able to keep your new tooth for 20+ years if you take great care of your teeth.

How Do Crowns Work With Dental Bridges?

Rather than repairing damaged teeth, dental bridges replace a row of one, two, or even three missing teeth. Crowns are an important part of a dental bridge. To place a dental bridge, Dr. Julie Snyder will begin by trimming two healthy “abutment teeth” next to the gap in your smile.

These teeth will be used to support two dental crowns. Then, between these crowns, one or more false teeth (also called “pontics”) will be used to “bridge” the gap in your smile. The crowns hold tightly onto your healthy teeth, keeping the false teeth in place and restoring your smile.

The benefits of dental bridges

  • Get your smile back – Missing teeth can make it harder to smile confidently, chew your favorite foods, and even speak clearly. With dental bridges, you can replace your missing teeth and restore both your appearance and the natural function of your teeth.
  • Permanently fixed in place –  Unlike partial dentures, bridges don’t have to be removed. This makes them more stable when you bite and chew, and means you don’t have to take them out to brush and floss, either.
  • Affordable alternative to implants – Dental bridges are typically less expensive than implants, especially if you’re replacing two or three teeth. They also may be covered in part by dental insurance, unlike dental implants.
